Some Common Questions Being Asked
Do the new products mean a change to existing web services?
No, the existing APIs served through saas.loqate.com will continue to function for as long as required by customers. However, from October we will begin encouraging all users to migrate their integrations to the new URL endpoints. By doing this, they can benefit from the new, scalable platform and pricing structure.
Will the new pricing change if I continue to use the old web service?
It won't. All requests into the existing web service will be charged as per the pricing shown on the everythinglocation website today.
The pricing for the new APIs will remove the existing higher credit cost for United Kingdom and Germany, and the introduction of our new tiered system means that verification in the US, Canada, and UK will become more competitive.
The new credit charges will be published prior to launch. To benefit from the new lower charges, customers must move to the new API service.
Is the way I purchase credit changing?
In the most part, no. The same credit packs will be available at the same prices advertised today.
We will be making some improvements to how you can purchase packs. Cloud accounts will soon be able to automate subsequent purchases by setting triggers on the amount of credit remaining, or the number of days until expiration.
What happens to the existing EULA, SLA, and partner agreements?
We are committed to providing a fully secure, reliable, and honest service, and our terms of service will be revised to reflect this. When customers move over or sign up to the new web service, the new agreements must first be accepted. For partners, there may be some additional changes to how discounting is structured and delivered.
Please be assured that all existing contracts and agreements will continue to be served on the existing service.
How will my cloud account change?
Your existing account will be moved into a new account management interface, with a wide range of new features and functionality.
For all users, we’re upgrading our notification and payment system to provide automated credit top-up facilities.
For partners and resellers, we’ll be improving customer account management, and creating a new account management API that will allow customers to automate account related tasks.
Although the account interface will look a little different, all API keys, cloud credit, and user profiles will be migrated over.
How do the new charging tiers work for the verification product?
Each tier uses a fixed credit charge and is defined by country. Tier 1 includes the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Tier 2 then incorpates all other countries, including instances where a country can’t be identified.
The new product range doesn't include some existing functionality. Is anything being shut down?
Some will be. After careful consideration, some of our lesser-used services will eventually be shut down. This includes the following set of functions, which will continue to be accessible on saas.loqate.com until they are no longer used.
REST Batch API – With a view to simplify the existing structure, batch functionality will be added to our verification product, which will accept up to 500 address records per call.
Query, Parse, Match, and Format – these individual processes are rarely used, and will not be migrated over to the new service.
JSON Transactional Batch API – the new verifylocation API is a direct replacement for this service.
